Success Story: Nancy Hackett
How long have you been a member?: I joined in February of 2009 after moving here from Edmonton. But I was previously a member from 1998 to 2005 when I lived in Red Deer before.
What are your hobbies?: My hobbies are traveling, golf, volunteering, knitting, gardening and of course working out
What is your greatest fitness achievement?: My greatest achievement has been losing 70 pounds over the last year. It wasn't always easy but I stuck with my goal of getting to a healthy weight. I did this through a serious commitment to exercise, joining Weight Watchers and being determined to make my health a priority. Thanks to OWF for helping me achieve this!
How do you stay motivated to exercise regularly?: Lots of ways! I love how I feel when I finish a workout, so that is a great motivation to exercise. I choose fitness activities I enjoy but I also try new classes or activities. I set goals (distances, weights, number of workouts) and I strive to meet those goals. I love the Olympic Challenge and I love that my trainer pushes me!
How do you feel now compared to when you first joined the club?: Honestly, I feel a million times healthier, more energized, more flexible, more confidant, stronger and just happier. The OWF staff is so amazing that working out at the club is usually one of the very best parts of my day!
What is your outlook for the future?: 2010 and the future look very positive. I plan to stay committed to fitness and to maintaining a healthy weight.
Success Story: Ganelle Treu
How long have you been a member?:I have been a member since 2005.
What are your hobbies?:
I have been very fortunate to travel to many countries and scuba dive. I also love yoga, reading, cooking and spending time with friends.
What is your greatest fitness achievement?:
I was blessed with a son this past March, however, the pregnancy was very difficult. Severe nausea and back pain resulted in immobility and an unhealthy weight gain. Once he was born I was so excited to be able to move again only to discover I could only walk half a block. Now 9 months later I am able to do a Step 2 class! I had to push myself a bit further everyday to regain my strength. This experience, as hard as it was did uncover my determination to be healthy.
How do you stay motivated to exercise regularly?:
I stay motivated by changing my routine. I love all the different classes and they are reminiscent of the dance classes I took when I was young. I also utilize the trainers to get new programs.
How do you feel now compared to when you first joined the club?:
Fitness is a permanent part of my life. It is so much more than being a certain size. It makes me feel energized and positive.
What is your outlook for the future?:
I want to maintain a strong, balanced and flexible body to take me through all of life's adventures.
